More than five lakh rupees were spent on the renovation of the press room, while other facilities including sports and furniture were also arranged during the tenure. This was said by Press Club Hamirpur President Vikram Dhatwalia in the annual general meeting of Press Club Hamirpur held in the press room on Friday. On this occasion, the President said that apart from the above works, a delegation of Press Club met Chief Minister Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu, who assured to provide land for the building of Press Club Hamirpur. He said that Deputy Commissioner Amarjit Singh has also assured to provide land. On the parallel body of Press Club, the President said that there is no parallel body in Hamirpur and even if there is, it cannot be valid from any point of view.


Club General Secretary Vasudev Nandan told in detail about other decisions of the club. He said that the club members decided and announced to hold the next elections of the club on March 10. He said that the serious issue of membership drive being run by non-members of the Press Club was also discussed. The work of membership renewal and inclusion of new members will be completed by March 1, while the verification of membership forms will be completed by March 5. It was also decided that if they do not stop misleading journalists and collecting money in the name of Press Club Hamirpur, a complaint will be lodged against them. All the members present have also been provided membership forms of Press Club Hamirpur, which have to be submitted to the committee by March 1. He said that a membership committee comprising members Surendra Katoch, Anil Kumar, Vasudev Nandan and Raj Kumar Sood was also formed. Former President of Press Club Dinesh Kanwar, Vijay Shama, Senior Vice President Ranveer Thakur, former President and former General Secretary Surendra Katoch, senior journalists Kapil Bassi, Rajneesh Sharma, Ashwani Walia, Ravindra Thakur, Navneet Batta, Ravindra Kumar, Raj Kumar Sood, Sunil Kumar, Shilpa Sharma, Neelam Rai, Neelam Kumari, Vijay Kumar, Anil Kumar, Mahindra Kumar, Mahindra Singh, Raj Kumar Sood and Kamal Kishan and many others were present in the meeting.
