A two-day plantation drive was organised on Shoolini University campus to honour Mahatma Gandhi’s vision for a cleaner, greener world.
The event was led by the Director Sustainability and Community Engagement, Mrs. Poonam Nanda, and witnessed participation from over
1,400 students and faculty members across various departments of the university.
The drive, aimed at promoting environmental sustainability and raising awareness about conservation, saw the plantation of hundreds of trees on campus. Students from the Engineering Department, Biotechnology, Bioengineering, Management, Law, and other faculties enthusiastically took part in the initiative, which was supported by all departments.
Speaking about the event, Mrs. Nanda said : “This year we decided to go for a plantation drive because we have seen the devastation caused by the depletion of green cover. This is our effort to raise awareness and encourage students to participate in such initiatives.”
The plantation drive not only served as a tribute to Mahatma Gandhi, who was a strong advocate for environmental conservation, but also strengthened the university’s commitment to fostering a sustainable future. By the end of the two-day event, more than 1,000 trees were planted across the campus, creating a lasting impact.
