Former Chief Minister Professor Prem Kumar Dhumal Extends Heartfelt Greetings to the People of Hamirpur on District Foundation Day

BJP stalwart and two-time Chief Minister of Himachal Pradesh, Professor Prem Kumar Dhumal, has extended his warm greetings and best wishes to the people of Hamirpur district on the occasion of its foundation day. He expressed his gratitude to the people of the district for their continuous contribution in upholding the rich cultural heritage and progressive spirit of Hamirpur.
Prof. Dhumal recalled that Hamirpur district was carved out as a separate administrative unit on 1 September 1972, when the Government of Himachal Pradesh reorganized its boundaries to ensure efficient governance and development. He noted that since its inception, Hamirpur has been known for its high literacy rate, disciplined and patriotic youth, and a strong tradition of service to the nation, particularly through the armed forces.
Highlighting Hamirpur’s glorious history, Prof. Dhumal said the region has been referred to as the “Veer Bhoomi” due to its unparalleled contribution of brave soldiers and officers who have served and sacrificed for the country. Over the years, Hamirpur has emerged as an educational hub, with reputed institutions such as NIT Hamirpur and various professional colleges adding to its profile. The district has also remained a center of political consciousness, nurturing leaders who have played significant roles at the state as well as national level.
Prof. Dhumal further remarked that Hamirpur has consistently achieved milestones in fields of education, rural development, and social awareness, setting an example for other districts of Himachal Pradesh. He urged the youth and the citizens to uphold these traditions while embracing modern opportunities in technology, entrepreneurship, and education.
On this auspicious day, he congratulated the people of Hamirpur for their unity, resilience, and achievements. He assured that with the collective efforts of its citizens, Hamirpur will continue to lead on the path of progress, while retaining its proud legacy of valor and knowledge.
He said that the present government has failed to maintain the glorious historical heritage of Hamirpur district, and he expects from the present government that state level cultural festival, Hamir Utsav, should be restarted so that the coming generations can know about the cultural and historical heritage of Hamirpur.
