Chandigarh University announced 800 scholarships for Students

Students from Himachal are better performers

Chandigarh University today announced 800 scholarships in various programs through its all India entrance examination CUSAT-2019 which would be held in the month of May at various test centers across India. Dr. R.S.Bawa, Vice-Chancellor, Chandigarh University was addressing media in Hamirpur today. he announced special academic scholarships for the students of Himachal Pradesh. Dr. Bawa said, “Under the CUSAT Scholarship policy, students would be offered scholarship upto 100% in more than 109 different professional programs offered by the university for the academic session 2019-20”. The students can register online and can avail the benefits of the scholarship. The Vice-Chancellor also announced two new scholarships which included scholarships for the wards of Defense and Paramilitary Personnel under which 5% reserved seats along with 15% fee concession would be given to the wards of disabled and martyr while 10% concession would be given to wards of working as well as retired defense personals. In yet another scholarship announced today Dr. R.S. Bawa said, “10% academic scholarship would be given to the wards of school teachers and university/college professors of Himachal Pradesh state as a mark of respect for their contribution towards building strong future for the nation.”

The Vice-Chancellor added that currently there are more than 3200 students from Himachal Pardesh who are studying at Chandigarh University which includes more than 610 students from Hamirpur district itself. “The University had set-up a regional office cum counselling center in Hamirpur and more than 1500 students have taken career guidance from our team of professional career experts which shows that students from the region are well informed about the changing industry expectations and skills that are now available in market” Dr. Bawa added.  A team of professionals is available at Hamirpur, dharamsala and Mandi offices through-out the year to help the students and guide them to choose their career after 10+2 or Graduation. The career counselling facility is available free-of-cost  in which any matric, 10+2 or graduate student could walk-in for getting professional career guidance for which the student would undergo psychometric test based upon which they would be given Career Advisory Report that would help them to choose their field of interest.

Bawa added that the Students from Himachal Pardesh have shown brilliant performance in academics and campus placements 2018. He said that more than 630 students of Engineering, Management, Mass-Communication, Animation, Bio-Technology, Law and Hotel Management from different parts of HP have managed to bag 710 offer letters from top notch MNCs like Microsoft, IBM, Google, Amazon, Wipro, Cognizant, Bank of America and others during campus placements. There are more than 131 students from the state who have been selected by multiple companies during campus placements. “Students such as Kamlesh Kumar who is an Electrical Engineering Engineering student from Hamirpur has been selected by 3 top notch MNCs which includes Hartek Group, V Parmar Power Wind and Think & Learn” he said.

Dr. Bawa said that management of CU is relentlessly working to improve its standards of education and infrastructure so that it could stand among top 200 universities of the world in future.
