6.84 Quintal waste collected in a day under Cleanliness drive by 7900 people

Over 6.84 quintal of waste was collected in cleanliness drive organized in 176 Gram Panchyats district Bilaspur today under programme ‘Ek Din Swacchata ke Naam’. The programme was inaugurated by Dr. Pankaj Rai Deputy Commissioner at government senior secondary school BIlaspur. He said that 684 kg of garbage was collected in which included 326 kg of plastic waste too. He said that 7 thousand 900 members of 486 groups of the district participated in the cleanliness drive.

He said that the cleanliness campaign would be conducted on 10th of every month. He said that efforts would be done to ensure participation of all officers, elected representatives, panchayat heads, ward members, businessmen, BDOs and other stakeholders and general public to make the programme succesful.

While appreciating staff and students of government Primary School Dagdahan of Swarghat Development Blosk, DC said that the waste plastic was converted into pots, bricks and other useful items and the dumping site was converted into a beautiful flower garden.

He said that during the campaign, special care of the health of the students were taken care of by giving them gloves and masks to wear. He urged the principals and teachers of all the schools to give proper masks, gloves and not send them to any accident prone area, taking full care of the health of the students during such campaigns in future.

He said that school students had done excellent work in cleanliness drive and it would also be organized during state level Nalwadi Mela to be held from March 17. He said that the cleanliness campaign would be converted into a cleanliness revolution in the district Bilaspur.
