Press Club Hamirpur extended hand to help victims of disaster in Thunag

Hamirpur, July 14

Press Club Hamirpur extended hand to help victims of disaster in Thunag in district Mandi of Himachal Pradesh. Notably, the Janjahli valley of Seraj assembly constituency had faced massive cloudburst that had not only caused vigorous flash floods but it also resulted in numerous landslides on June 30. It is heartbreaking that over 11 people lost their lives and nearly 27 were still missing while countless are injured in the devastating natural calamity. 

Meanwhile on the call of Press Club Hamirpur people from various villages come out to contribute for the disaster relief initiative of the club. People from villages in Bamsan area, Bhoranj area and shopkeepers of Hamirpur Town gave various items that are needed in the affected area including medicines, ration kits, cloths and garments, utensils, blankets, tarpaulins, torches and batteries and even toothpaste and toothbrushes. 

The relief material was delivered to former Chief Minister and MLA of Seraj Jai Ram Thakur yesterday by the team members of the club at rest house of Thunag.

While extending gratitude to press club hamirpur, Jai Ram Thakur said that it doesn’t matter that what items are brought and what is the quantity, what matters is the concern shown by the press club from Hamirpur. He said people who are adversely affected in disaster in Seraj are thankful for the support. 

Earlier the vehicle carrying relief material was flagged off by Bhagat Singh Thakur Superintendent of Police from Hamirpur, he said that the efforts of press club would also inspire others to help people in distress. The vehicle was flagged off at 7:30 a.m. from DC office complex at Hamirpur and reached Thunag at 1 pm.  

Dinesh Kanwar President of press club hamirpur said that everyone should come forsward to help people in trouble in disaster affected areas. He said that the club is thankful to donors who contributed with open heart for the collection of relief material. He said that the club would continue its efforts in future too.
