Two police officers suspended after Palghar mob lynching incident

Delhi: Two police officers have been suspended with immediate effect for alleged negligence on duty after the recent lynching of three men in Maharashtra’s Palghar district. Niket Kaushik, IGP, Konkan Range, Maharashtra Police, placed the two officers from Kasa police station in Palghar district under suspension. Anand Rao Kale, an assistant police inspector, and another sub-inspector have been suspended until an inquiry is conducted into the mob lynching incident that occurred on April 16 in Palghar. Meanwhile, the Maharashtra government has ordered a high-level inquiry into the Palghar mob lynching incident, state Home Minister Anil Deshmukh said. Home Minister Anil Deshmukh also warned against giving any communal colour to the incident, as two of the three deceased were believed to be seers.  Deshmukh further said that the police are keeping a close eye on those who wanted to use this incident to create a rift in the society.
