University of Edinburgh delegates visit Shoolini University for academic collaboration

Shoolini University recently hosted a high-level delegation from the University of Edinburgh, United Kingdom (UK). The visit was coordinated by the Office of International Affairs (OIA) at Shoolini University and aimed at strengthening academic partnerships between the two institutions.
The visiting team included Dr. Chris Beckett, Degree Programme Manager for Civil and Environmental Engineering, and Ms. Ala Ross, Student Recruitment Officer.
On the first day, the guests toured the Shoolini campus and visited research facilities such as the Nanotechnology Lab and PURSE Lab. The tour also showcased the university’s sustainability efforts. Academic presentations were held to explore future collaborations like 2+2 programmes, dual-degree courses, and opportunities in online and distance education. The day ended with a formal networking dinner hosted by the university.
Day two focused on interaction with faculty and students. Dr. Chris Beckett delivered a guest lecture for engineering students, while Mrs. Ala Ross led a session on study opportunities at the University of Edinburgh, especially for final-year students.
The guests appreciated the university’s natural surroundings and modern infrastructure. Ms. Ross said she thoroughly enjoyed her stay and called it a "memorable experience." Dr. Beckett also praised the hospitality and the academic potential of Shoolini University.
From the academic side, Prof. Virender Rihani, Dean of the School of Engineering, and Prof. M.S. Thakur from the School of Mechanical, Civil and Electrical Engineering, expressed their commitment to finalising a dual-degree agreement with the University of Edinburgh. The collaboration efforts are being actively supported by Dr. Rozy Dhanta, Deputy Director of the Office of International Affairs, who promised full dedication to this academic partnership.
