Ravinder Kapoor former Indian team Badminton coach had developed an international standard coaching facility for Badminton coaching in sprawling basin of river Beas near Jawalamukhi.
“At present Academy badminton hall spans over a massive area of 10,000 sq. ft. with four Hova & Wooden courts. We have highly professional and dedicated team of Badminton Coaches who are putting their best effort to groom upcoming badminton professionals for the Northern India region”, said Kapoor.
Kapoor added that the badminton academy has hostel facility for boys and girls with all modern amenities. He said that some players joined as beginners and most of them are State Winners and representing different States in Nationals
Ravinder Kapoor was settled in Panchkula and served Haryana government as the Head Badminton Coach for more than 40 years. He has produced some of the finest Indian national and international players. Currently, Academy has around 50 Students who come from local areas and around 30 students in hostel from other states.
The Sports Authority of India had converted Kapoor Badminton Academy from Sai Extension Centre to Khelo India Centre.
Rajiv Kumar Managing Director of Himachal Pradesh Tourism Development Corporation who visited the Badminton Academy today said that the academy is providing excellent coaching to Badminton players. He said that the rigorous coaching schedules of the academy are producing disciplined badminton players. Having such a class facility for the game is blessing for badminton enthusiasts, he added.
The wonders of Kapoor Family
Son Saurav Kapoor remained team captain of Indian Badminton Team and 12 times champion of Harayana state championship presently playing for Reserve Bank of India.
Other son Gaurav Kapoor is national medal winner and 11 times winner of Haryana state championship and is Himachal state champion from last three years.
Kapoor’s Daughter in law Simran is also former Haryana state champion and three times HP State champion and is NIS qualified. His daughter Krishana former haryana state champion and Khelo India Coach. The KBA has the credit to have 17 state champions who are playing for HP, J&K, UP, Haryana etc.
