The Nursing Officers of AIIMS in here celebrated International Nurses Day on MAy 12. Notably, International Nurses Day was celebrated on May 12 on the Birthday of Florence Nightingale. Florence was an English social worker and founder of modern nursing system. She came to prominence during serving as a manager and trainer of nurses in Crimean War when she organised care for wounded soldiers. She was known as “The Lady with the Lamp” who rounds to wounded soldiers at night and treated them.
Prof. VS Negi, Director AIIMS said that International Council of Nursing celebrated this day each year and theme of this year’s International Nurses Day was “A Voice to Lead – Invest in Nursing and respect rights to secure global health”.
He told that Nursing was a noble service and people could not forget the contribution of nurses during corona virus pandemic. He said that many nurses had sacrificed their lives for the society,
Prof. Negi emphasized on various steps taken by institute to empower the nursing officers of the institute. The event was attended by staff of AIIMS including senior residents, junior residents and nursing officers.
