Sports Minster Inaugurated National Rafting Marathon

National  Rafting Marathon was flagged off of Rakesh Pathania Minister for youth sports and forest in Himachal Pradesh on October 4. As many as 25 teams were participating in the event. Rakesh Pathania said that this event would encourage sports, adventure and tourism activities in this region. He said the he was pleased to know women teams were also participating in the event. Rakesh Pathania said that participation in National level event would be cgrat achievement for persons. He said that Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur had conveyed his best wishes to all the participants.

Rakesh Pathania said that state government was encouraging sports activities in the state and the government.

Shaukat Sikand president of National rafting Foundation said the foundation was thankful to Himachal Pradesh tourism development corporation and district administration of Hamirpur for providing all the support,

 He said that apart from teams from BSF, Indian army, Air Force and other paramilitary forces number of civil teams from Bangalore Hyderabad,  Maharashtra,  Himachal Pradesh and other states were participating in this event.

Pertinent to mention that that it was Beas river between Nadaun and Dehra offer best facility for organising marathon in the region. The water had rapid  of scale-1, which was best to test player’s strengthened during this stretch. The length of stretch for competition was 10 km starting from Nadaun Pattan till Chamba Pattan.

Devashveta Banik deputy commissioner said that Rafting at Nadaun was long awaited dream of people of Nadaun that had come true now. She said that it was proud moment for district to host National Rafting Marathon here.

Vijay Agnihotri vice chairman of HRTC was also present on the occasion.
