Indian men’s hockey team lost in the semi- finals defeated Belgium 5-2

New Delhi, August 3

India has suffered a major setback in the hockey event at the Tokyo Olympics. The Indian men’s hockey team is out of the race for the final. Team India was defeated by world champion Belgium 5-2 in the semi-final match. The Indian men’s hockey team struggled against Belgium throughout the match.

At one point India have an edge over Belgium. But Team India could not maintain this lead for long. The sharpness that India showed in the last few matched was missing in the semi- final match.

At present, even after this defeat, India’s hope of winning the medal is still intact. The match for the bronze medal will be played on August 5. Before this, in the second semi-final, there will be a clash between the team of Australia and Germany. India will complete for the bronze medal with the team that loses out of them.

The Indian hockey team has not won a medal in the Olympics since 1980.
