Hamirpur, June 19
Milkha Singh, the country’s strong sprinter and athlete who made India’s name in the world with his achievements, died late Friday night. After battling corona, ‘Flying Sikh’ Milkha Singh has lost the battle of life. This week only, his wife Nirmal Milkha Singh also died due to Corona. He took his last breath at the age of 91.
In the past, Milkha Singh had tested negative for corona, but suddenly his health started deteriorating. After this, he was admitted to PGI Hosital in Chandigarh where he died.
Sports fraternity mourns demise of Milkha Singh
Sports persons for the district mourned the death of flying sikh Milkha Singh here today. Dronacharya awardee hockey player Romesh Pathania said that Milkha Singh had not only brought laurels to the country but he had dedicated his life for the sports in general and athletics in specific. National athletics coach Bhupinder Singh said that country had lost a gem of athletic world. He said Milkha Singh’s contribution for athletics would be remembered for ever.
Pankaj bhartiya secretary of Himachal Pradesh athletics association said that Milkha Singh inspired sports persons to concur the tracks in toughest competition. National hockey players including Pardeep Thakur, Subhash, Rakesh Handa, Kamaljeet, also mourned death of Flying Sikh Milkha Singh. .
