Solan girl Devika Sharma to represent Himachal Pradesh in National Basketball Championship
Devika Sharma, a Class X student of St. Luke's Senior Secondary School, Solan, has brought immense pride to her hometown by being selected to represent Himachal Pradesh at the National Basketball Championship in Kolkata. The tournament will be held from November 29 to December 5, 2024.
Devika Sharma, daughter of Dr. Nandan Sharma, Dean of Legal Studies at Shoolini University, and Dr. Geetanjali Sharma,  has been a basketball enthusiast since childhood. Over the years, she has showcased remarkable talent, representing her school in several inter-school, cluster, and state-level events. She has also been recognised with the "Best Athlete Award" for four consecutive years and commanded her NCC platoon during the Republic Day Parade.
Devika's selection by the District Basketball Association, Solan, marks a significant milestone as she becomes the only girl from St. Luke's Senior Secondary School to represent the state at the national level this year.
Dr. Geetanjali Sharma, a proud mother and a doctorate in Vocal Music from Himachal Pradesh University, said, “Devika’s hard work and dedication have finally paid off. This achievement is a dream come true for her, and we are immensely proud of her.”
Her father, Dr. Nandan Sharma, also expressed his pride, stating, “Devika has always been passionate about basketball. This accomplishment reflects her determination and focus. We are thrilled to see her represent Himachal Pradesh on such a big platform.”
Devika’s coach and teachers have extended their congratulations, highlighting her unwavering commitment and discipline. They expressed confidence in her ability to shine at the championship and continue bringing laurels to the district.
