ICC postpones T20 World Cup in Australia due to COVID-19

Delhi, July 21 (QNN)

International Cricket Council (ICC) deferred the Twenty20 World Cup scheduled for October-November this year in Australia.

The ICC was exploring other plans since hosts of the championship Cricket Australia (CA) acknowledged the logistical challenges involved in staging the tournament amid travel and other restrictions following corona virus pandemic.

The Board for Cricket control in India board (BCCI) was keen to host the 2021 edition to avoid back to back hosting with ICC events in 2022 and 2023.

The ICC did not specify the hosting order and it was yet to finalise between India and Australia that who will host which edition.
