Bus fare hiked in Himachal Pradesh by 25 percent

The Himachal Pradesh government decided to increase the bus fare by 25 per cent on July 20. The step would help government to overcome fund crunch amid Covid-19 pandemic.

In the cabinet  meeting it was decided to increase the fare in the per km tariff plan for all travel beyond 3 km for hills and plains. The meeting was chaired by Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur. Now the fare would be Rs seven for the first 3 km, instead of Rs five the official release read.

The cabinet also withdrew the free travel facility to MPs and legislators in the state run HTRC buses both. The facility would continue for former legislators and former MPs.

The cabinet also decided to convert 771 posts of Assistant Librarians in the Education Department into Junior Office Assistant (Library).
