Two terrorists killed in South Kashmir

Jamuu: Two terrorists were killed in an ongoing counter-terrorist operation launched in South Kashmir’s Pulwama district today.  J&K Police personnel have been wounded in the encounter so far. Security sources said that joint party of security forces launched cordon and search operation on the basis of presence of terrorists in Zantrag Khrew locale of Awantipora area in the district.

They said as the forces zeroed in on the suspected place, the hiding terrorists fired indiscriminately triggering gunfight. The officials said during the initial gunfight, two terrorists were killed at the encounter site. The operation is in progress in the area.

With killing of two terrorists today, the number of terrorists killed has reached ten during this month till date. The slain include seven Hizbul terrorists and one Jaish cadre while one top commander of Hizbul Mujahideen Waseem Wani was killed in an encounter in Wachi Zainpora area of South Kashmir’s Shopian district yesterday.

Meanwhile, following the arrest of DSP Davinder Singh and Hizb top commander Naveed Babu recently, the search operations have been launched at several places in North Kashmir’s Baramulla district.
