A tough time for congress in Hamirpur…?

Hamirpur (QNN)

The district congress committee would face a tough time after appointment of new DCC Chief as the new incumbent has to handle a divided house in the district. Not only this his appointment had left many expectants dizzy and fizzy as the appointment of Suman Bharti as new DCC chief had come as a surprise to many. The congress here is on the active volcano that could explode anytime and for new DCC chief it would not be a cake walk.

Suman Bharti would himself face hard time to handle the congress affairs smoothly as many of the party goons may not go by his directions. Bharti, who is a humble personality may try to unite the splinters of the party to one fold but the shrewd politicians may prove spoilsport to the DCC chief and the party as well. The voice of dissidence could be felt loud and clear on the very first day of appointment.

The DCC here in the district of Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu was already in doldrums and the appointment had left many feel deceived. Pertinent to mention that the district had many senior leaders who could put the opposition of BJP in trouble but rejecting to accept the new appointment. Notably, the DCC in the district  was led by prominent leaders like veteran Bhagat Ram Karohta and Milkhi Ram Sharma and others like Balak Ram Sharma, Rajender Zar, Suresh Kumar(Now MLA), Sunil Sharma Bittu, Naresh Thakur and Kuldeep Singh Pathania.

The DCC had seen downfall of congress since Prem Kumar Dhumal was installed as Chief Minister of the state in 1998 and it continued till recent elections when BJP failed to get even single seat. It was expected that the congress would improve its strength in the district after Sikhvinder Singh Sukhu became chief minister of the state. But the selection of the candidate may prove dearer to the party when Loksbha elections are in hand. The resentment that was observed if continued to prevail would dent the performance of congress and the CM as well if it could not garner winnable lead in the elections.

Meanwhile, Suman Bharti has a tough challenge ahead and if he could prove his ability in handling this important portfolio would emerge as promising leader in congress fraternity. The days ahead would put him in litmus test and getting through it would prove his capacity as well. The major challenge for him is to silence the voice of dissent in the district congress before moving ahead.
