Hamirpur, April 4
Jitender Kanwar former Secretary of Himachal Pradesh Staff Selection Commission was arrested by special investigation team of state vigilance and anti corruption department here today. Notably, the HPSSC was dissolved by the state government on February 21 this year after paper leak scam was exposed in the commission on December 23, 20022.
The SIT had nmad 16th arrest in paper leak scam of dissolved commission as 15 persons were already arrested in five FIR’s registered in the scam by the SIT. About six persons are still in police custody while others were granted bail by the court. Notably, the malpractice in the selection process of the commission was exposed when a team of vigilance department headed by ASP Renu Sharma arrested a woman officer posted as senior assistant in the dissolved commission.
The SIT is investigating 22 competition examinations conducted by the dissolved commission in recent past as it suspected malpractice in these examinations.
G Shivakumar DIG police of vigilance department said that Jitender Kanwar secretary of the dissolved commission was arrested at Hamirpur today. He said that the former secretary was also controller of the examinations and incharge of all secret and confidential records of the commission.
