Three terrorists killed in Sopore

Srinagar, June 21

Three terrorists, including a top commander of the terrorist organization Lashkar-e-Taiba, Mudasir Pandit, were killed in an encounter with security forces in Sopore in Jammu and Kashmir’s Baramulla district on Monday.

Inspector General of Police (IGP), Vijay Kumar, said that after receiving information about the presence of terrorists, police and CRPF jointly attacked Gund Prath area of Sopore. When the security forces personnel were moving towards a particular area, the terrorists hiding their started firing on them. The security forces gave ample opportunity to terrorists to surrender, but they didn’t and after which the encounter started.

Three terrorists were killed in the encounter. Of the three terrorists killed, two have been identified as top Lashkar-e-Taiba commander Mudasir Pandit and Asrar alias Abdullah. Mudasir Pandit was involved in the murder of three policemen, two councillors and several citizens. He was also involved in other incidents of terrorism in the area. Abdullah is a resident of Pakistan and was active in terrorist activities in North Kashmir since 2018. Official sources said that three AK rifles and other war material have been recovered from the encounter site.
