Three persons have been arrested and over 303.056 kg of cannabis was seized from them at Shivpur town on the Paonta Sahib-Puruwala road in Sirmaur district around 2:40 am on Sunday night, police reported on Monday. Police reported that it was the most noteworthy ever capture of weed in the state.
Notably, Marijuana is sold for Rs 50,000 for every kg, while better quality brings considerably better yields, told Paonta Sahib DSP, Bir Bahadur.
He said SHO Puruwala Vijay Raghuvanshi stopped a truck for checking and during this inspection 31 bundles wrapped with tape were found.
Three men Yusaf(32), an resident of Upperli Bhangani, Kadar Ali (43) of Singhpura and Tohid Ali (30) of Upperli Bhangani were arrested. During the inspection, it was observed that the stash had been brought from North-East states. A case has been registered under the NDPS Act and a further investigation was in progress.
This is the third such big drug seizure by the Paonta Sahib police in near past. Earlier 1,300 kg poppy husk was seized in two cases by the Puruwala police.
