Sujan Singh Pathania Cremated with state honour

Shimla: Senior leader of Congress party and sitting MLA from Fatehpur Constituency Sujan Singh Pathania who died at his native place in Fatehpur in district Kangra on Friday was cremated with state honour today.

Pathania was 77 and was unwell from last many days. Chief Miister Jai Ram Thakur, Former CM Virbhadra Singh, Prem Kumar Dhumal and Shanta Kumar expressed grief on the demise of Sujan Singh Pathania. Leaders said that Pathania was a statesman who was focused for the development and welfare of his people.

He died after a long illness on Friday and was be cremated today. He was born on September 22, 1943 in Lahore (Pakistan) and was seven times MLA. Sujan Singh Pathania was one of the most honest leader of congress party and was popular among his people.

He served in the HP Forest Department as range officer and he resigned from service to join Janata Party in 1977. He later joined congress Congress in 1980.

Sujan Singh Pathania was elected to the state Assembly in 1977, 1990, 1993, 2003 November, 2009 (bye-election) from Jawali Assembly constituency. He also won from  Fatehpur Assembly constituency in 2012 and 2017.

SS Pathania remained minister of Power Minister with additional charge of Non-Conventional Energy Sources, Agriculture from December 2012 to December 2017.
