The Legal Aid Clinic of the School of Law, Shoolini University, conducted a Legal aid awareness campaign in the villages of Nauni and Ochghat. The campaign aimed to educate the local community about their legal rights, available free legal aid services, and practical legal solutions.
The campaign was coordinated by Ms. Poonam, Assistant Professor and Coordinator of the Legal Aid Clinic, along with Mr. Vineet Kumar, Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Legal Sciences and a member of the Legal Aid Clinic.
The objectives of the event were to spread awareness about property rights, women's rights, and senior citizens' rights. Villagers were encouraged to approach legal aid centers in case of disputes or legal issues. The campaign emphasised the availability of government-sponsored legal aid schemes, eligibility criteria, and procedures to access these services.
Prior to the field visit, students underwent specialised training conducted by the Legal Aid Committee. These sessions provided them with essential knowledge and communication skills, ensuring effective interaction with the local population. Over 30 students actively participated in the campaign, distributing pamphlets and brochures prepared in the local language for easy understanding. The distributed materials also included contact information for legal aid centers and helplines.
The campaign offered practical advice on handling common legal issues such as domestic violence, inheritance disputes, and pension claims for senior citizens.
Ms. Poonam Pant said the campaign is a step toward empowering the rural population through legal education and enhancing their access to justice.
