The border dispute between Assam and Mizoram turned violent on Monday. There has been a clash between the security forces of Assam ad the citizens of Mizoram on the border of both the states. The matter escalated so much that the police fired tear gas shells. Meanwhile, firing also took place.

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma claimed that six Assam Police personnel have been martyred in the firing. After this incident, the Chief Ministers of both the states have demanded the intevention of the PMO in this matter.
Earlier, the Chief Ministers of both the states has asked Home Minister Amit Shah to intervene in the matter. On Monday evening, Home Minister Amit Shah spoke to the Chief Ministers of both the states. He asked both the states to resolve the dispute, after which Chief Ministers have assured the Home Minister of resolving the dispute and cooling the matter soon. On the other hand, Assam Police said that it is unfortunate that some anti-social elements from Mizoram are pelting stones at the government officials of Assam. These officers are posted in Lailapur to protect the state’s land from encroachment.
