Himachal government reduced 400 vaccination centres amid vaccine crisis

Amidst the shortage of vaccine, the government has closed 400 vaccination centers in Himachal Pradesh. This decision has been taken due to non-availability of adequate vaccine to Himachal from the Union Health Ministry. About 700 vaccination centres were built in Himachal to vaccinate people.Now the vaccine is being administered in 300 centres only.

These include centres in 200 urban and 100 rural areas. People in the age group of 18 to 44 years will not get the vaccine at present. The government has decided that the vaccine cannot be administered until 5 lakh additional doses are available with the health department.

In the state, 55 lakh people above the age of 18 years have to get the vaccine. Till now, 32 lakh 58 thousand people have to get the first dose, while 9.06 lakh people have to get the second dose. Others are waiting for their turn. People from 18 to 44 years do not see the posibility of getting the vaccine this month.
