Jai Ram Thakur Chief Minister attended online Kargil Vijay Diwas programme organized in Mandi through video conferencing from Shimla on July 26. Chief Minister inaugurated Martyr Memorial constructed at Indira Market in Mandi at a cost of Rs. 15 lakh. This martyr memorial was dedicated to the martyr’s of wars held in 1962, 1965 and 1971 and Kargil in 1999. The names of all the martyrs were inscribed on the monument structure here. The Chief Minister said that the work on Phase-II of this Martyr Memorial would be started soon. Jai Ram Thakur paid tributes to the martyrs and said that this day was dedicated to those martyr who have sacrificed their lives for the nation. He said that in 1999 Pakistani aggression 52 soldiers were martyred while 1096 brave soldiers of the state have received gallantry awards. He said that 1246 valiant soldiers of the state made supreme sacrifices for protecting the mother land.
