Hamirpur, July 21
The Himachal Pradesh Technical University had received Rs. 1620 lac World Bank funding under TEQIP-III programme. Significantly, world bank had considered Himachal Pradesh Technical University (HPTU) for funding its infrastructure and educational projects.
The world bank has also ensured that all the funding made by it is appropriately utilized for the purpose it was sanctioned. For this the WB had appointed an auditor in the administrative office of HPTU to monitor the fund expenditure here. Significantly, the World Bank had approved the funds under Technical Education Quality Improvement Programme Phase-III (TEQIP-III). It was for improving the quality of Engineering Education in existing institutions with a special consideration for Low Income States and Special Category States (SCS). HPTU was one of many universities that was given this assistance. Pertinently, National Institute of Technology here did not figure in TEQIP-III.
Notably, Government of India and the World Bank had signed a $ 201.50 million credit agreement to enhance the quality and equity of engineering education.
Rs. 16.20 crore assistance would be spent on two main components including Rs. 6.20 crore on infrastructure procurement and Rs. 9.20 crore on academic quality improvement programmes. The rest of the amount would be spent on the mobilization.
Meanwhile, the sprawling campus of the university had come up at village Daruhi near the town. the campus had three blocks connected with one another and a state of art Web studio and data center was already working from the new campus.
The university had started selection process of appointing new faculties and administrative staff to enhance the operational strength of the university. The process would enable the university to provide best teachings to the students.
Prof. SP Bansal Vice Chancellor of the university said that the university would have state of art infrastructure and best faculties. He said that TEQIP-III assistance would in all round improvement of the university. The major expenditures would be on the infrastructure development, he added.
