The inspiring success of Saina Nehwal and PV Sindh at the international competitions had made badminton the most flourishing sport in India, said national chief coach of Badminton Pullela Gopichand on Sunday.
He said when he started coaching in 2004 with 25 trainees nobody thought that India would produce such world class players. He had trained star players of the country inluding Sindhu, Saina and Kidambi Srikkanth and many more.
“I can say, this is the sport (badminton) that had developed the most in the country in these past 10 year or so, he said.
He assured that badminton’s future would be bright. Gopichand expected that the cost of playing badminton would reduce in coming years.
