Monica a staff nurse working in Dr. Radhakrishan Medical College and Hospital Hamirpur reportedly committed suicide by hanging herself with the ceiling fan on October 03. The deceased was 32 years nurse. She was serving at the medical college from last two years. Monica had alleged that she was facing harassment by senior staff during duty hours in her suicide note, recovered by the police from the scene of crime. It was reported that the nurse had attempted suicide during day time when her five years old son was at school and she was alone at her rented quarter.
It was owner of the building who observed the door closed and when no one answered from inside after long knocks he informed the police. Asnik katnoria husband of the deceased nurse was working in a medicine company in Shimla.
It is pertinent to mention that the medical college was facing shortage of staff and employees were working under pressure and stress here. The college authorities had repeatedly requested the government to appoint more staff.
Sanjeev Gautam Station House Officer rushed to the spot and initiated the investigation in the case.
Superintendent of Police Arjit Sen Thakur said that police had registered the case of suicide in accordance of the suicide note and investigation had started.
Meanwhile Prem kaushal Spokes Person of congress party said that suicide by a staff nurse in the government medical college at Hamipur was not only unfortunate but had also exposed the sorry state of affairs prevailing in the college. He said that the college administration had failed to provide cordial environment for the employees in the hospital. He said that the demised nurse had levelled serious allegation of harassment on the senior staff of the institution, that need to be investigated seriously. He said that those who would found guilty must be dealt stringently and justice be given to the family in distress.
Prem Kausal said that the only ultrasound machine available in the medical College was also defective and still it was being used. He said that the results of the machine were also unreliable hence people had to go to private clinics. He said that the health institution was facing neglect of government too. He said that there was no control on the officers and hence public at large was suffering.
He said that water supply to village Jatehri in the district was disconnected from last ten days. He said that people of the village were forced to buy water tankers for their daily needs. He said that congress party strongly condemn the insensible attitude of the government towards government employees in the state and urge Jai Ram Thakur Chieef Minister to improve the governance for the public welfare.
