Himachal Forest dept. achieves target of planting 25 Lakh plants

SHIMLA: Himachal Pradesh (HP) forest department achieved its target of plantation of 25 lakh trees on the fifth and concluding day of Van Mahotsava campaign in the state on Wednesday.
The five-day long plantation drive launched by the Himachal Forest department in the state concluded on Wednesday with the plantation of 25,35,441 plants with the active participation of 1,15,105 people, students, Youth Clubs, Mahila Mandals, NGOs and different agencies in this campaign.

The campaign was organized in all the twelve districts of the state in 727 sites. Chamba Forest Circle topped with plantation of 3,85,875 plants. Whereas among Forest Divisions Nurpur Forest Division took the lead with plantation of 1,88,467 plants. With 23,263 numbers of people, Dharamshala Forest Circle topped in the list of participation.

The plantation campaign was monitored by online application. Forest department personnel were authorized for each plantation site to fill the data regarding number of people participated and plant planted.

Forest Minister Govind Singh Thakur has praised the efforts of the department and thanked the people of the state, who made this campaign a big success by participating in such a large number.
