IGMC implement the “Sahara” scheme for poor patients in Himachal

Shimla: Indira Gandhi Medical College and Hospital in Shimla has become the first institution of Himachal Pradesh to implement the Sahara scheme, which provides financial assistance of Rs 2,000 per month to patients belonging to economically weaker sections of society.

The main objective of the scheme is to provide financial assistance to patients suffering from fatal diseases in order to mitigate the hardships faced during prolonged treatment to an extent.

The scheme will cover specified diseases such as Parkinson’s, malignant cancer, paralysis, muscular dystrophy, hemophilia and thalassemia. Patients suffering from chronic renal failure or any other disease, which renders a person permanently incapacitated, have also been covered under the scheme.
