A five year old girl was reportedly rapped by over 50 years old man in the town here yesterday night. The five year old girl child of a migrant family was living in the town who reported the crime to her parents who further reported it to the police. It was alleged that the minor girl was playing near her house and was called by the accused to his room. The accused had a room near the house of victim and was familiar to her.
It was learnt that the police reluctant to book the case but later registered the FIR following intervention of congress leaders including Inder Dutt Lakhanpal MLA Barsar. People were surprised to see the resistance of the police for registering the case.
The congress leaders also gave a memorandum to Rattan Gautam Additional Deputy Commissioner today and demanded strict action against the accused.
Prem Kaushal HPCC spokes person said that the law and order situation had worsened in the state and government had no control on the increasing crime. Sunil Sharma member AICC said that police was trying to mislead people on the issue by delaying the action against the accused.
Hitesh Lakhanpal DSP (HQ) said that a case under section 376 and POCSO had been registered against the accused and he had been detained by the police for investigation. The statement of the victim, her parents was recorded and medical of the victim was also conducted, he added. He said that next action would be initiated once the medical report is received.
