Martyr of Indo China scuffle Ankush Thakur Cremated with army and state honour

Thousands of people thronged to pay tribute to brave heart who sacrificed his life for the nation at the age of 21

Martyr Ankush Thakur was cremated, who sacrificed his life in Galwan clash with Chinese army,  with full army and state honour at his native village Karohta today. His younger brother Aditya Thakur lit the pyre of martyr Ankush Thakur. Thousands of people thronged to pay tribute to the martyr today from across the districts including Hamiprur, Mandi, Bilaspur, Kangra  and Una.  

Notably, Ankush Thakur sacrificed his life in violent scuffle with Chinese army on June 16 in Galwan Valley in east of Ladakh. As many as 20 Indian soldier were killed in this incident including one colonel rank officer. The mortal remains of Martyr Ankush Thakur were brought to Karohta around 6 p.m. by unit of Punjab Regiment from Chandigarh airbase.

The mortal remains were flown to Chandigarh from Leh this morning. Officer of the regiment laid reeds on behalf of chief of army staff, regiment commander and unit commander. A contingent Punjab regiment and of Himachal Pradesh police presented the guard of honour to the bereaved soldier.  Virender Kanwar Rural Development Minister laid reeds on behalf of Chief Minister, state government. While Harikesh Meena  Deputy Commissioner and Arjit Sen Thakur Superintendent of Police and district administration state police respectively.   

Virender Kanwar Rural Development Minister who was present at the cremation of the martyr said that  Ankush Thakur had given supreme sacrifice for the nation and it would not go in vain. He said that all the support to the breaved family would be given by the state government. MLA Kamlesh kumara, Rajender Rana, Inder Dutt Lakhanpal, former MLA rajesh Dharmani, Zila Parishad Chariman Rakesh Thakur,  DCC president Rajender Zar, HPCC spokesperson Prem Kaushal  were also present.

Pertinently,  Ankush had joined Indian Army in 2018 and had reported to join the Punjab Regiment ten months ago after completing his training at Army training centre Faizabad. Notably, Ankush Thakur’s father Anil Thakur and grandfather Sita Ram Thaur had also served in the Indian Army. The younger brother of the martyr is studying in class six.

Harikesh Meena DC said that the Ankush Thakur who was martyred at Indo China border was cremated with full army and state honour. He said that district administration would provide all the help to the family of the martyr. Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur would visit the house of the martyr tomorrow as communicated by the CM office, he added.
