Amrinder Singh Submitted resignation to Governor of Punjab Banwari Lal Purohit

Capt Amarinder Singh resigned as the Chief Minister of Punjab here today after meeting Punjab Governor. He had also submitted resignation of his council of ministers as well.
The decision came before a meeting of the Congress Legislative Party (CLP) in Punjab on Saturday evening. As per sources Capt Amarinder Singh spoke to Sonia Gandhi Congress President this morning and told her that he would prefer to resign instead of being humiliated.
Capt. met the state Governor at the Raj Bhawan and handed over his resignation.
Amarinder Singh’s son, Raninder Singh, announced that his father would be resigning and lead “our family into a new beginning”.
Mr Singh, in his first comments to the press, told that he called up party chief Sonia Gandhi this morning informing her of his decision to quit, adding that “he felt humiliated”.
