Mary Kom lost in the pre-quaterfinals, Indian athlete’s domination in archery-badminton and hockey

New Delhi, July 29

India got off to a good start on the seventh day of the Tokyo Olympics. Badminton player PV Sindhu made it to the last eight by defeating Mia of Denmark in the last 16 match of women’s singles. Now Sindhu will face Yamaguchi.

The Indian men’s hockey team defeated Olympic champions Argentina 3-1 to reach the quarter-finals. While Atanu Das has reached the last eight in the men’s individual event in archery. Boxer Satish Kumar made it to the quaterfinals of the 91kg weight category.

Manu Bhaker finished fifth in the qualifiers of the 25m Air Pistol event. While Rahi Sanobat ranked 25th in the Precision Round.

Mary Kom, a six-time world champion and bronze medalist of the 2021 London Olympics, has lost in the pre-quaterfinals. She was defeated 3-2 by Colombian boxer and 2016 Rio Olympic medalist Ingrit Valencia in the women’s flyweight (48-51 kg) event.

India’s medal winning hopes are alive with better performances from Deepika Kumari, Pooja Rani and PV Sindhu.
