Shimla. Director General of Police Sitaram Mardi said that the police had registered 20 cases against 97 Jamati’s on charges of concealing information and investigation was still on. He siad that the state police could also take action against Maulana Saad Kandhalvi of Tabilighi Jamaat.
pertinently, the DGP’s statement cames at a time when social media and political parties are accusing the Jamaat’s Maulana Saad Kandhalvi that he had directed the Jamaatis from Markaz to go to mosques instead of going to the hospital when they were infected with corona virus. It was apprehended that after this appeal of Saad, the Jamaatis returned to the houses. They neither informed the police nor the administration about their sickness. At the same time they did not got treatment for their sickness. However, the police had launched a special operation to trace them and so far 432 Jamaatis and 293 people who came in contact with them have been quarantined in the state.
Significantly, the DGP had said that if anyone died after coming in contact of corona positive Jamati, the jamati would be booked under the sections of murder or attempt to murder. The DGP said that police is investigating the cases in different districts, but if required an SIT could be constituted.
