Shimla: The MeT Department has issued a yellow weather warning for rain and snowfall in Himachal Pradesh for November 15.The Shimla Meteorological Centre has forecast heavy rain and snowfall in isolated places of middle and high hills of the state on Friday.
The weather office issues colour-coded warnings to alert people ahead of severe or hazardous weather that has the potential to cause ‘damage, widespread disruption or danger to life’.
‘Yellow’, the least dangerous of all the weather warnings, indicates the possibility of severe weather conditions over the next few days.
The Meteorological Centre forecast rain in lower and middle hills and snowfall in higher hills from Thursday to Friday. It, however, issued yellow warning for the middle and higher hills for Friday only.
Meanwhile, tribal district Lahaul and Spiti’s administrative centre Keylong continued to be the coldest place with the lowest temperature of minus 0.3 degrees Celsius on Wednesday, MeT Centre Director Manmohan Singh said. The minimum temperature in another tribal district Kinnaur’s Kalpa was 4.2 degrees Celsius, he said.
The minimum temperature in tourist places Manali, Kufri Shimla and Dalhousie was 4.2, 9, 10.5 and 11.1 degrees Celsius, respectively, Singh said.
The highest temperature in the state was recorded in Una at 24.7 degrees Celsius.
