Landslides block 164-km narrow gauge track Pathankot-Mandi rail service

Kangra: Rains have brought the rail services to Himachal to a standstill. Landslides have blocked the 164-km narrow gauge track between Pathankot in Punjab and Jogindernagar in Mandi near Lunsu village of Kangra district. Fourteen trains run between these two stations daily.

The local officials of the railway department are not clear when the services will be restored again. When contacted, they refused to issue any statement stating that they are not authorized and pointed towards divisional rail manager (DRM). Repeated attempts to contact DRM Vivek Kumar proved futile, as he did not respond to his phone calls.

The landslide took place late Wednesday night. Passengers had to walk for at least 4 km to catch buses to their destination after the landslide.
