DHARAMSHALA: In a tough measure against teachers for committing errors during checking of answer sheets of
students, the Himachal Board of School Education has decided to bar the teachers from examination-related activities for some time.
On Monday, the board acted against three teachers for committing such mistakes.
The secretary of board, Dharmesh Kumar said”While three teachers have been punished, action would be taken against others for showing laxity in checking answer sheets in the state.
The errors had surfaced during revaluation of of answer sheets by students”.
“Three teachers have been barred from board activities. The list of others is being prepared. We are taking action to save the future of and value their hard work,” he added.
The teachers who will commit major errors will not be allowed to check answer sheets in the future.
Kumar said in one of the checking lapses in a mathematics paper, a teacher had given zero to a student even though the sum was correct. “We are going to ask the teacher about it. He will not only be barred, but also might face an inquiry by the education department. The board is going to write about such incidents to the education department,” he said.
Board usually pays around Rs 10 to check each paper to teachers and a maximum limit of papers to be checked in a day has been fixed at 30 for a day.
