In J&K’s Shopian gunfight three terrorists were killed

Jammu-Kashmir:Three terrorists were killed in around nine-hour long fierce gunfight in Dragad Sugan area of Shopian in South Kashmir region of Jammu & Kashmir.

Security sources said the post-encounter sanitization and search operation is on. Earlier, one terrorist was killed and an army commando injured in the counter-terror operation in the area.

Then,   after a lull in the exchange of gunfire, the fresh firing restarted between the holed up terrorists and the forces personnel leading to the killing of two more terrorists taking the toll to three. Arms and ammunition were also recovered from the encounter site.

Informed sources said that three slain terrorists were a mixed group of Hizbul Mujahideen and Lashkar –e- Toiba outfits.

Security sources said that a joint team of army, J&K police and CRPF launched a cordon and search operation on the basis of specific information about the presence of at least three terrorists in the area.

The mobile internet services in Shopian and adjacent areas remained snapped as a precautionary measure.
