53 Lakh voters to seal the fate of 45 Candidates on Sunday

Himachal Pradesh:As Himachal Pradesh goes to the polls tomorrow, an electorate of 53 lakh people will decide the fate of 45 candidates in the fray from the four Lok Sabha seats that the state has.

With 1.52 lakh first-time voters and 13.34 lakh voters below 30 years, youth hold the key for the victory of any candidate in these elections. As such, the choice made by the youth will be crucial in deciding the electoral fate of candidates and the two main political players — the BJP and the Congress.

Revealing the details about preparations for the last phase of elections, Additional Chief Electoral Officer said out of the total 7730 polling stations, at least 373 are critical. Over 47 companies of paramilitary forces have been deployed for the mega polls battle of ballots.

“In Lahaul Spiti district of Himachal, the polling station has been set at an altitude of 15,256 feet at Tashigang. This is the world’s highest polling station,” he added. A total of 45 candidates have filed nomination for a single phase of national polls for 4 Lok Sabha seats of the state.

Out of the total 4 Parliamentary Seats, Mandi Lok Sabha Seat saw a maximum for 17 Candidates filing the nomination to be in the electoral fray. While Kangra and Hamirpur Lok Sabha Seat recorded nominations with just 11. For Shimla Lok Sabha Seat, 6 candidates have filed nominations.

The political fight in the state is between the Indian National Congress(INC) and the Bhartiya Janta  Party(BJP).  Election Commission had on March 10 decleared schedule for General Election 2019. General Elections 2019 is being held across Seven Phases from April 11 to May 19. Counting of Votes and Results will be announced on May 23.

Himachal Pradesh’s 4 Lok Sabha Seats will poll in a single phase on Sunday, May 19.The poll results on May 23, which will indicate whether the BJP improves its 2014 performance, by not just winning all four seats, but increasing its victory margin.
