Devastation in Himachal: Flood in Lahaul took lives of seven, rescue operation continues

Amidst the red alert, heavy rains in Himachal Pradesh since Tuesday night have caused havoc. Seven people died after being hit by floods in Tojing drain in Lahaul- Spiti. The search for three others is on. ITBP, BRO, police and administration have started a rescue operation. The jawans are facing difficulties in searching the bodies in the debris.

A 25-year-old woman along with her four-year-old child was washed away in the Parvati River in Kullu district. Apart from this, a tourist woman and a local person from Delhi are also missing in Kullu. Heavy damage has been caused by cloudburst in Kullu.

Shimla-Kalka National Highway has been closed due to landslides at many places. Vehiclar movement has come to a standstill on this route.

The bys overturned on the road near Patera Panchayat of Hamirpur, although all the passengers are said to be safe.

The highest rainfall in the state was recorded in Dharamshala at 101 mm from Tuesday night to Wednesday at 8 am. In the capital Shimla too, vehicles have been byried due to landslides at many places.

Vehicular movement has come to a standstill on hundreds of roadways across the state. Vehicles got buried under debris in Khoti Nala near Hanogi on Chandigarh- Manali NH and the roadway was blocked.
