Former Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh Cremated with State Honour

Virbhadra Singh was Six times Chief Minister of Himachal Pradesh

Former Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh was cremated on the banks of Satluj River at Rampur Bushehar today. the veteran leaders died at the age of 87 on July 8 after prolonged illness. He was 122 king of erstwhile Bushehar Estate and was educated in best schools including Bishop Cotton School Shimla and St. Stephan College New Delhi. He was first elected to loksabha in 1962 and since then he was into active politics. He served the country as union minister and state as chief minister six times.

It was only Virbhadra Singh who repeated the congress government in 1985 and became chief minister for the second term consecutively.

Over 20 thousand people reached from all walks of life to pay tribute to Virbhadra Singh. Everyone around there was gloomy and disheartened. It was unprecedented crowd that the town ever experienced. People stood calm and composed when Vikramaditya Singh (Son) lit the pyre of the beloved leader.

 Prominent leaders from across the country and senior leaders from congress party arrived here to attend last rituals of Virbhadra Singh.

Jai Ram Thakur Chief Minister who attended the funeral here said that state would never see such larger than life personality in future. He said that his contribution for the development of the state and love for Himachal Pradesh made him immortal.
