Shimla: In Himachal Pradesh regular inspections for welfare of labourers are being carried out across the State by field functionaries of the Labour and Employment Department. complaints regarding non-payment of wages to the workers are being viewed seriously by the state government. 1,373 inspections have been carried out so far to check any exploitation of labourers in the state. According to state government more than 90 percent of the employers have paid wages and salaries to their employees. Daily inspections and monitoring are being carried out across the State by field functionaries of the Labour and Employment Department. The state government has designated Deputy Labour Commissioner as Nodal Officer to redress the grievances of stranded migrant labourers working in the State as well as workers of state working in other parts of the country. The state Rural development minister Virender kanwar said that state government has exempted daily wage local labourers engaged in harvesting of crops from curfew passes. However, labours entering from other districts for harvesting purpose has to obtain curfew pass from respective district administration.
