Shimla: Himachal’s degree colleges have made it mandatory for teachers to attend with biometric attendance. Apart from this, these instructions are being issued by the Higher Education Directorate on Friday citing the orders of the State High Court. It has been clarified in the same orders that the salary of teachers who do not attend biometric can be deducted for that day. Director of Higher Education Dr. Amarjeet Kumar Sharma said that all college teachers may have to appear on biometric following the orders of the High Court.
Apart from this, the State High Court has recently issued instructions to register the attendance of employees working in government colleges in biometric machines. The same court said that in any case, if the workers object to registering their attendance in biometric, then they should not be paid that day as an absence. Contrary to the decision of the state government, departmental disciplinary action can be taken against the employees who work.
