Action Against Students in Jharkhand Reflects Rahul Gandhi’s Thinking and Congress’s Anti-Youth Mindset: Anurag Singh Thakur

Senior Bharatiya Janata Party leader and Hamirpur MP Anurag Singh Thakur launched a sharp attack on the Congress and Rahul Gandhi over the action taken by the government during protests by students in Jharkhand. He said that the manner in which students are being treated in Jharkhand exposes the thinking of Rahul Gandhi and the Congress’s harsh and anti-youth mindset.

Anurag Singh Thakur said that the youth of the country are raising legitimate questions concerning their rights, employment and future, but instead of addressing these concerns, Congress governments are choosing to suppress the voices of young people. He said that a government which should be listening to students and resolving their grievances is instead resorting to coercive measures when faced with democratic protests.

Taking aim at Rahul Gandhi, Anurag Singh Thakur said that Rahul Gandhi seeks answers from the Union Home Minister, but himself remains absent from Parliament. He said that when important national issues are being debated in the House, Rahul Gandhi’s absence and his subsequent statements outside Parliament raise serious questions about the seriousness of his approach.

Anurag Singh Thakur said that the politics of Rahul Gandhi and the Congress has increasingly become a politics of headlines rather than a politics of resolving issues. He alleged that Congress repeatedly resorts to lies and half-truths to create confusion among the people and remain in the news.

He said that the youth of the country need justice, opportunities and dialogue—not suppression. The Congress, he added, must understand that the youth are fully aware of its politics and double standards.

Anurag Singh Thakur said that the Congress should first answer for the manner in which students and young people are being treated in states governed by it before questioning the Central Government. He said that the youth of the country are seeking answers from the Congress as to why students who raise their voices democratically are being subjected to attempts at suppression.
