Hamirpur: Indian Institute of Information Technology, Una organised its second convocation on Noverber 30 at NIT Hamirpur auditorium. Prof. L. M. Patnaik, Adjunct Professor and I.N.S.A. Senior Scientist, Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bengaluruwas invited as the chief guest to grace the occasion.
The director of IIIT Prof. S. Selvakumar, welcomed the gathering and greeted the graduates receiving the degree and felt honoured in welcoming the chief guest Prof. L. M. Patnaik. Then, he presented a report on the activities of the Institute for the year 2018-2019 and delivered his address.
He said that three MoU’s have been signed with IIT Ropar, IIT Mandi, and HPTU for the joint collaboration of faculty development programs, joint researches, resource sharing, faculty exchange, etc.
He highlighted about Students Centric Students Selective education system which includes Practical, Project, Product (PPP) oriented technical education, stream-oriented electives, one full semester internship and credit transfer from online courses.
Congratulating the graduates, Prof. L. M. Patnaikcommunicated the possible consequences of technology poised to shape this world and the opportunities and challenges that IIIT graduates need to face the avenues of technological influence impacting India in the global society. He also quoted Swami Vivekananda and said that “You have to grow from the inside out. None can teach you, none can make you spiritual. There is no other teacher but your own soul.”
Director of IIIT-Una conferred the degrees to 42 B.Tech graduates comprising 25 students of Computer Science and Engineering and 17 students of Electronics and Communication Engineering. A total of 2 gold, 2 silver and 2 bronze medals were awarded to these meritorious performers.
